Dropped $340 on a ground penetrating radar rental for a backyard dig in Gettysburg, and the internet is wrong about it
Everyone on here says GPR is a waste for hobby digs and you should just eyeball the soil layers. I rented a unit for $340 for a weekend near Gettysburg last month after my neighbor swore his yard had a foundation wall under it. The scan showed nothing where he thought, but it caught a buried brick footing two feet deeper that we would have missed digging by hand. All those commenters claiming the tech is overkill clearly never tried it on ground that's been turned over a dozen times. What's your cutoff for renting gear versus just grabbing a shovel and guessing?
