Cleaned my 1000th pottery shard today and it was a piece of a modern coffee mug

I was working through a box of finds from a dig site near Tucson, cataloging everything. I hit shard number 1000 in my spreadsheet and got all excited, thinking it might be something special. I brushed it off and turned it over, only to see the clear 'Made in China' stamp on the bottom. It must have gotten mixed in from a recent campsite. Has anyone else ever had a site totally spoiled by modern junk like that?

Nothing kills the magic like finding a soda can tab in a unit you SWORE was undisturbed. Spent a whole day carefully exposing what I thought was a cool metal artifact, only to reveal a crushed Bud Light can from like 2005. Felt like the past itself was pranking me.

Ugh, that's the worst kind of letdown (been there with a plastic fork).
