Samsung ice maker bypass trick I was skeptical about

A guy I know swore you could trick a Samsung ice maker into working by bending the little metal arm just a hair. I thought it was total junk advice for like 6 months. Finally tried it last week on a RF23M8070 model that was freezing solid. Bent the arm maybe 2 millimeters and it's been making ice for 7 days straight now. Anyone else had luck with these little tweaks or is it just temporary?

How long did you bend it before? Seems like there's a sweet spot where it actually works versus just breaking the whole assembly.

Buddy of mine held it 12 seconds and snapped the tab clean off lol.
