Spent 6 weeks fighting fruit flies on my balcony worm bin, one $4 roll of window screen fixed it in an afternoon
I had tried vinegar traps, diatomaceous earth, and moving the bin inside at night, but nothing worked until I cut a screen lid that left a 1 inch gap for airflow, and now I want to know if anyone else had a pest problem that took way longer than it should have to solve.

Man, it's always the cheap dumb fix that works after you've tried everything else... same thing happened to me with a leaky gutter, messed with caulk and tape for weeks and a $3 piece of flashing did the trick. Feels like half of fixing stuff is just finally trying the obvious thing.
