Just realized my freezer is not the answer after all, and a $6 bucket proved it
I have been freezing all my veggie scraps for almost a year, thinking it was the cleanest way to store them until I could do a big batch. Then in March my freezer door popped open overnight and I had a thawed mess of peels and coffee grounds leaking across the bottom shelf, which took two hours and a whole roll of paper towels to clean up. My neighbor Priya saw me hauling it out and just laughed, then showed me how she keeps a small counter bucket with a lid and empties it twice a week. Now I am wondering if anyone else has dropped the freezer idea after a bad spill, or is it just me?
