Hot take: the thrift store in Boise had a whole shelf of old coffee grinders and one still had fresh grounds in it
Stopped into the Idaho Youth Ranch on State Street in Boise on Saturday and found about 8 hand crank coffee grinders lined up on a shelf, all marked between $6 and $12. One of them, a wood box style with a cast iron top, actually had old grounds still stuck in the drawer, which told me somebody used it right up until they donated it. What got me was how solid the burrs felt compared to the plastic electric one I have at home. Does anyone here actually grind coffee with one of these old hand cranks, or are they mostly decoration now?
