Hot take: the guy who sold me a $6 brass owl taught me more about buying than any booth full of fancy chairs
Stopped at a flea market in Waco a couple Saturdays back and dug a little brass owl paperweight out of a dollar bin, and the seller waved me off when I tried to hand him a five. He said he only prices the stuff that still does a job, and that owl had been holding down receipts on his counter for 20 years. Then he pointed at a cracked mirror across the aisle and told me furniture with a story sells twice as fast as furniture with a good finish. I paid him the five anyway and he threw in a chipped saucer. Now I look at booths different, way less worried about perfect condition and more about whether a thing was actually used. Anyone else get a buying tip from a seller that stuck with you longer than the thing you bought?
