Update: My dismissal of recap episodes flipped when they saved me time.
They are useful for catching up on complex plots.

Yeah my buddy always skips those recap intros on shows and then texts me five times an episode asking what's going on lol. Used to do the same thing with meeting summaries at work, just jumped right in. Got totally lost that one time they changed the project deadline and I missed the memo. Now I skim that stuff every single time, saves a ton of confusion.

Jumped into a show my friend recommended without watching the recap and spent the whole first episode thinking the main villain was actually the hero's long-lost brother or something. Turns out I had it completely backwards and felt like a total idiot when my friend set me straight halfway through. @betty_davis40 I feel that saving time thing so hard, my brain just needs that quick reminder or I'm lost in the weeds. It's like my memory decides to take a coffee break right when the plot thickens and leaves me guessing at every twist. Honestly I probably look like a clueless goldfish every time I skip one, blinking at the screen and hoping a magic summary appears. Now I just lean into it and let the recap do the heavy lifting before I embarrass myself further.
