Triple-checked a sensor loop and still got a false alarm at 2am
Installed a full DSC system in a ranch house outside Austin last month, and the customer called me at 2am screaming about a burglary. Got there with my meter, pulled the front door contact, and found a loose resistor that I know I crimped properly during the install. Turns out the wire gauge was too thin for the 30-foot run through the attic, and heat from the afternoon sun made the resistance drift just enough to trip it. Has anyone else dealt with temperature swings messing up a zone, or should I just start running thicker wire on all long loops?
