Took me 3 trips to figure out why a garage door contact kept showing fault
Client in Reno had a overhead door contact that would trip the zone every time the door came down. I figured it was a bad magnet gap, so I shimmed it, no luck. Second trip I swapped the contact itself, still faulting. Third trip I finally noticed the track bolt was loose and the door was shifting maybe a quarter inch when it closed, just enough to wiggle past the reed switch. Total time on this one was about 4 hours spread over two weeks, all for a bolt I could have checked in 30 seconds. The customer was cool about it but I felt dumb. Has anyone else had overhead door tracks throw off a contact like that?
