Got a call about a panel that kept dropping its dialer line every single night at 2 AM.

The homeowner was sure it was a ghost. I spent two hours checking the phone line voltage and the panel's programming. On a hunch, I swapped the backup battery, even though the low battery light wasn't on. Turns out the old battery was pulling just enough juice at that specific time to trip the dialer circuit. Has anyone else seen a failing battery cause a fault without the warning light coming on?

Tell me about it. I got caught by that same trick last month and it cost me hours of work. The worst part is how simple the fix is once you see it. Makes you feel silly for missing it. Always seems to happen when you're rushing.
