TIL a tinted torque seal can hide a loose B-nut until you put a light right on it
Working a 737 flap track lube at our hangar in Burbank on Tuesday, I grabbed a flashlight to look behind a hydraulic line and caught a B-nut that felt snug but had zero witness mark left, all because the orange seal had smeared over the gap. The seal was applied heavy on the last install and dried into a fake stripe, so a guy doing a quick walk-around would wave it off every time. How many of you wipe the old seal off with MEK or just lay a fresh stripe right over the top?
