In my experience, the constant updates have made simple tasks way more confusing than they need to be.

And my own code from six months ago looks like alien hieroglyphics to me now. I tried to add one tiny feature last week and felt like I was doing open heart surgery on a toaster. The magic's still there, it's just buried under layers of "best practices" and ten different ways to do the same thing. I miss when I could just make a thing work without worrying about the perfect architecture.
